Hugh Mangum at ‘MONUMENTS’

The new MOCA exhibition “MONUMENTS” gathers Confederate memorial statues erected after the Civil War, removed in recent years, complimented by contemporary work commenting on this challenging part of American history.

Featured in the exhibition are a large group of photographs of Hugh Mangum, active during the period of Jim Crow segregation in the American South. An itinerant photographer, Mangum chose the unusual path of welcoming all who sought his services regardless of color or economic status.

We are proud to represent, in collaboration with ACA Galleries, the special edition of Hugh Mangum prints curated by Margaret Sartor and Alex Harris, exhibited in 2019 at the Nasher Museum.
