Sushiela

Author and illustrator, Sushiela created between 2001 and 2007 a series of exotic fish paintings using metallic leaf and watercolor on Amate bark paper handmade by the Otomi Indians of Mexico.

Her “Jamal and the Camel,” a story of a magical meeting of a desert chieftain with a princess, is soon to be published.

Born in South India, Sushiela moved to Los Angeles in 1970. Introduced as a child to drawing, painting, and sculpture by her artist mother, she later took up painting of botanicals, inspired by the meticulous drawings of her botanist father.
