An old Bakongo diviner's slit drum Yombe or Sundi, Democratic Republic of Congo:

The diviner served as a respected intermediary between the spiritual and physical world, interpreting the will of the spirits, and helping restore balance and harmony in the consulting individual and community.

This small wooden instrument  has likely heard and participated in many stories and invocations, an example of the intimate relation between sound and healing.

A powerful piece in a compact package.
